Pubs and Clubs Regatta|10/09/2006|On Sunday 10th September in glorious sunshine, SWPS staff, pupils and parents enjoyed a days racing at the Staines Pubs and Clubs Regatta. Crews for this regatta are offered 5 training sessions, which 'our' crews crammed in to the last few days, and then they race. 'Perk's Pensioner +3' consisting of Chris Boulton, Alan Jarrett, John Ware and Peter Davies, coxed by Liz Bernard were the only Perkins's crew to win their first heat and therefore competed in the Championship event. They went on to win their next heat too, but lost in the semi-finals. Both 'Perk's Pullers' consisting of Ian Russell, Nick Moughton, Sandy Gallie, and Michael Gates, coxed by Charlotte Jackson and 'Perkie Daddies' consisting of Chris Ball, Graham Burgess, Tony Lombardo and Ross Hilliard and coxed by Cath Moore, lost their first heats and so competed in the Plate event. Both crews won their next heat, but lost in the semi-finals. Perk's Pullers only losing by 1 foot!! It was a great achievement to have all three crews in semi-finals. Well done to all crews.
